Kawela Bay Snorkeling Map
COUNTRY: USA   PROVINCE: Oahu   (Printer Version)
REGION: North Shore   TITLE: Kawela Bay
NOTES: North of Honolulu and Waimea on Oahu, the snorkeling at Kawela Bay offers good diving. It has a very scenic, small deserted beach that is usually empty.
This is a shallow bay that is known for poor visiblity with limited marine life and coral. It is best snorkeled at high tide on calm surf and windless days.
To reach Kawela Bay snorkeling from Honolulu, head west on H1 to H2. Head north on H2 to Kamehameha Highway. Continue north on Kamehameha Highway to Waimea Beach Park. From Waimea Beach Park, continue north for 5.7 miles. Park at the end of the chain link fence (there is sometimes a produce stand across the street). You'll need to walk west through the forest for about 1,000 feet to the water line. The best Kawela Bay snorkeling is to the far right of the bay.
