NOTES: North of Honolulu and Waimea on Oahu, the snorkeling at Waiale'e Beach Park is relatively unknown and can offer solitude. While many snorkelers are content with the good marine life right off the beach, there is also a small island about 100 feet offshore known as Kukaimanini Island. If the surf is calm, there is good snorkeling off the right side of Kukaimanini Island. You can expect to see butterfly fish, sea turtles, and convict tangs.
To reach Waialee Beach Park snorkeling from Honolulu, head west on H1 to H2. Head north on H2 to Kamehameha Highway. Continue north on Kamehameha Highway. From Waimea Beach Park, continue 4.9 miles towards Turtle Bay Resort and look for the unmarked parking for Waiale'e Beach Park on the left, west side of the road. It is located 1.7 miles south of Turtle Bay Resort. There is lots of glass in the parking lot so make sure to wear shoes. There's also plenty of car window glass indicating burglaries.
